All Ireland Drama Champions 2016

On Saturday the 7th of May, Bridge Drama realised our ultimate dream when we became All Ireland Champions at the RTE All Ireland Drama Finals in Athlone.

After our performance on Saturday 30th April we were delighted with very positive remarks from adjudicator Padraic McIntyre who hailed the show as "a powerful production" with plenty of pace, energy, and all the humour of Neil Simon's writing, while at the same time realising the sad and ugly underbelly of a world of withheld emotion.

With our fingers crossed, our breaths held but daring to hope, we gathered in the Radisson Hotel for the Awards night. The nervous tension was palpable until the final moment of truth arrived and 'Lost in Yonkers was announced as the overall winner of the competition. Along with this honour we also received awards for 'Best Set' and 'Best Director' for Pat Whelan.

Everyone in Bridge Drama has been floating on air ever since! We had a celebration homecoming in the Porter House in Castlebridge on Sunday night and we are looking forward to a Civic Reception awarded to us by Mayor Ger Carty.

We are also ready for our final celebratory performance of 'Lost in Yonkers' in the O'Reilly Theatre of the National Opera House on Sunday May 22nd.
